Birth
every birth has its own power, beauty, and story
Labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period are all such fleeting moments in time, and moments that are almost immediately blurred by lack of sleep, new responsibilities, and hormone changes. You truly can never replicate it.
The emotion on a partner’s face as they witness the strength/pain/endurance of their loved one birthing their baby is priceless. It almost always makes me tear up.
Babies change SO quickly, and photographing details of their teeny fingers and toes right out of the gate will let you forever remember how small your child once was.
What greater life-changing moment is there than the moment YOUR new baby is born?
I have always had an interest in pregnancy and the birth process, and have been in complete awe of a woman’s power in growing, nurturing, and birthing a new human. As someone who was birthed at home, I grew up hearing stories about my mother having a home birth using a midwife. My interest led me to become a postpartum nurse, allowing me to expand my obstetrics knowledge and giving me training on lactation and how to support new mothers and their beautiful babes. I was even able to have my own unmedicated birth in 2022 (my sweet babe pictured on my chest above), with the presence of my husband and incredible doula.
Why share all of this? Because I LOVE birth. I love the raw emotion and sheer humanity it evokes. I love to witness one of life’s greatest miracles. I love watching new parents greet their little one for the first time. I understand on a deep and personal level the gravity of what takes place in the birthing area. And I love capturing it all on camera.
All this to say, it would be my GREATEST honor to capture such this beautiful, raw, powerful moment in time for you, whether in a hospital, birth center, or home setting. With my nursing background and personal birth experience, I’d be more than happy to offer tips along the way as well (also happy to just blend into the background and let you do your thing as you birth your baby however you please)! And in case you are nervous about these images being on camera, know that I will always be cognizant of the fact that the images are personal to you, and will never share any of them without your consent.
